Our Story
Show Me Shiitake was established in 2021 with the goal of producing top quality Shiitake mushrooms for local farmers markets and restaurants of Southwest Missouri.
Most of the mushrooms that you can buy in grocery stores are produced indoors with artificial light and a controlled atmosphere. While this is an easier process for the grower, the mushrooms are not as flavorful or as high quality as those produced outdoors.
At Show Me Shiitake, our mushrooms are log grown, outdoors in order to get the highest quality product possible. Our logs are receiving natural light, shade from the timber, and oxygen from the natural airflow from their environment. The only thing that we provide for our logs is water!!
The result of our efforts is a much more fresh and flavorful product, but don’t take our word for it- try some for yourself!!!
We want to give our customers fresh, flavorful mushrooms along with all of the necessary information and recipes to enjoy them to their fullest! Most importantly, we want to share the knowledge of our process and why our mushrooms taste so much better than the rest!

All Natural- All the Time
Our logs are harvested and inoculated here on our farm! After inoculation, they are placed in our laying yard out in the timber where they have natural sunlight, shade, air, and precipitation to help them produce the most nutritious and flavorful shiitake mushrooms!
The only inputs that we add are the shiitake spawn when we inoculate them, and the necessary water to supplement the precipitation in their environment!
